After I have done my research, I found out what is the issue and what is my aim for my project. Climate change and global warming is the first environment issue that Malaysia facing nowadays. This issue had affected our people, our planet, and our community. So my aim for this project is to reduce carbon emission in order to balance the environment and the community by promoting fairtrade and organic.

So, what is fairtrade? Fairtrade actually is mean fair for people, fair for the planet. Fairtrade aims to provide quality products, improving life, and protect the environment. Every product that they sell is following sustainable practice and most of their product is organic. Here are some of the common Fairtrade logos that we can find in Malaysia.

But why Fairtrade can help the environment? This is because if the farmer wants to sell products under Fairtrade, they have to follow the sustainable practice. For example, reduce using pesticides, reduce personal carbon emissions, and more. Once they follow the practice, they can get their minimum price and Fairtrade premium. This fairtrade premium is the extra money from the product. With this money, they can use it to benefit the people like build more infrastructure, plant more trees and turn to organic farming. Because turning to organic farming can help to reduce 66% of carbon emissions. This is said by the Food and Argriculture Organization of the United Nation. Turn to organic farming, we can have a better quality of food and can be reducing carbon emission. This also can improve the economy and public health. In the end, the money will go under Fairtrade and Fairtrade can continue to produce more environmental and sustainable products. It is like a cycle never-ending if we can keep doing it.

But in Malaysia, not many people know about this because they are a lack awareness toward Fairtrade. Actually, in our daily life, many things are made from fairtrade ingredients like Starbuck. Starbucks is using Fairtrade ingredients to make coffee.

So I hope to promote this fair trade to Malaysian people and at the same time helping the environment and communities.
