Jungle City

In Malaysia, global warming and climate change is the most leading environment issue which causes by the carbon emission. When the population who live in the cities is increased, the carbon emissions are increased as well. From the table above, we can know that causing the most carbon emissions in four sectors in Malaysia is the electricity generation sector.

In the electricity generation sector, they need to combust fossil fuel to generate heat energy and it produces carbon emission. Besides that, when the industrial sector produces products, they will release dark smoke into the air and cause air pollution. And for the transportation sector, every family nowadays will have one car in the house at least and they are not practice carpooling or even taking public transportation because it’s not convenient sometimes. Not only that, some trucks and vans will release dark smoke into the air as well. Last is the residential sector, they are using fuel like natural gas, heating oil in their daily life and they also use light and application like air-conditioner and refrigerator, all this could produce carbon emission to the air.

So carbon could affect the environment and public health, like asthma and headache. Carbon emission could also make air pollution, the greenhouse effect, climate change and temperature increase, and more.

So it is important for us to take action to protect, but how can we do it? First, we need to drive less or we could practice carpooling and taking public transport. When we are in the house, we need to reduce the use of heat, light, and appliances, turn off the light and appliances when we are not using them. Not only that, we can choose to use renewable products and recycle products. We could also look for fair trade or similar logo products which item is made sustainable. Lastly, we need to add more green space and increase plant efficiency.

We really need to reduce carbon emission because it is the main factor that causes the environmental issue. Protect the environment could help us to create sustainable cities and communities. So we need to create a jungle in the city. The decision that we make could bring a big impact on the environment.
