MATERIAL OBSERVATION

I have visit 2 different shop near my house which is the laundry lab and the bakery shop.

LAUNDRY LAB

Laundry Lab - Ceiling

They are using plaster board ceiling. This type of ceiling is easy to install and beautiful. The cost also affordable. They also install lighting and fan at there. This is good for people who wait at there. The whole place look bright and clean.

But there are some problem that happen on this ceiling:

There are some water mark on the ceiling which affect the beauty. It can be seen easily on the plaster board ceiling.

Landry Lab - Wall

All the walls are brick wall and all painted with white colour. Most of the wall are pasted with the advertising and instruction or way to use the machine.

All the machines are fit in the wall. Token changer machine and all the washing machine all are fit in the wall.

Laundry Lab - Floor

Non-slip floor tiles are using at there. So it won't be like too slippery when having water on the floor.

Laundry Lab - Fixture

There are some switch and automatic dispenser which contain with detergent, softener and sanitize. Each of the washing machine will having one set of automatic dispenser.

All of this is cover by a protector and I think this is to prevent water go in?Maybe? And all of this is hide in the wall and cover with a acrylic.

Laundry Lab - Furniture

Here are some of the furniture for people waiting and folding their cloth. Overall the furniture is quite match the place.

BAKERY SHOP

Bakery Shop - Ceiling

There are 3 different type of ceiling are used at here. The first one is plaster board ceiling which is used at the place that we wash hand. Second one is a wooden strip ceiling which is use at the counter and coffee making area and the third one is timber slatted ceiling which is use at the sitting area. The surrounding look good and comfortable. But it might be hard to clean the timber slatted ceiling.

Bakery Shop - Wall

The first one is cover with their logo and name of the shop on the wall. The second one is a white ceramic tile brick wall. This type of wall is place at the coffee making area and hand washing area. I think this can be clean easily when having water on the wall. The third one is brick wall. This gave us a vintage style felling. The fourth one is a wooden strip wall .

Bakery Shop - Floor

Non-slip floor tiles are used at here. I think it also a good choice for using this. People will not fall down easily when the floor having some water because it is not slippery.

Bakery Shop - Hardware

There are having some display cabinet which allow them to display all their food. There also have a big window which allow you to look inside which the people are making the bread.

The furniture that they use are also using wood and I think it match the surrounding colour perfectly. All this is easy to clean.

Here are the lighting that they use. The small one is located at the counter and display cabinet. The big one is located at the sitting area but maybe it is hard to clean and change the light bulb. But it really match the surrounding.

Overall, I think both shops have design something which is suitable for them to use. For the laundry shop, the surrounding is more brighter because it is for people to work and do things. While the surrounding of the bakery shop is more warm and it is suitable for people to relax and enjoy their food. The similar thing that I found on this two shop is they are using non -slip floor tiles which is a good choice for them I think.
